Let's go to India!

Yoga in India

After decades immersed in the study of yoga in the West, my journey led me faithfully to India, where I encountered Anand Mehrotra, a spiritual teacher, upon arrival. It was at his esteemed yoga academy, Sattva, nestled in the tranquil surroundings of Rishikesh, that I delved deep into the practice of Kriya yoga. In the serene embrace of ancient lands, where the sun bathes the earth in golden warmth and the breeze carries whispers of timeless wisdom, Kriya yoga unfolds as a sacred dance of body and soul, rooted in the mystical realms of ancient India.

Imagine the dawn of civilization, where sages sought communion with the divine. Through meditation and contemplation, they unveiled pathways to harmony within themselves and the cosmos. Thus emerged yoga—a profound union of breath, movement, and stillness. Across millennia, yoga evolved, weaving through scriptures and chants, finding resonance in the Vedas and Upanishads. In the birthplace of yoga, studying its ancient texts is transformative, enriching life profoundly.

With 20 years devoted to the practice of vinyasa yoga, including teaching at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, I discovered the spiritual depths of Kriya yoga. Imagine having 800 documented teacher training hours and feeling like I knew so little about the spiritual side of yoga. Beyond physical exercise, yoga is a pilgrimage of the heart—a journey towards unity with universal consciousness. Each posture and breath becomes a prayer, honoring the infinite potential within us. Now I study kriya yoga and I do this in India. I encourage my students to stretch and get uncomfortable for just a bit. This is where true transformation begins.

In today's chaotic world, yoga offers sanctuary and serenity. The mat becomes an altar, each movement a hymn of gratitude. It reveals that true strength lies not only in muscles but in the tranquility of the mind and expansiveness of spirit. Close your eyes and envision ancient yogis, serenely seated beneath a banyan tree, their hearts beating in rhythm with the universe. Let us honor their legacy, for yoga is more than a practice; it's a legacy of love and wisdom, uniting generations in peace.

Now, I annually journey to India, inviting my beloved students to experience the spiritual magic of yoga firsthand. I'd be delighted to have you join us on this transformative journey.
